WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Carlos Correa robbed Trevor Larnach of a base hit.
In an great finish the Stockton Delta Kings won in dramatic fashion over the
San Jose KZ Kitchen Zinks by a score of 5 to 4 at Billy Hebert
Field.
Stockton came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2
runs using 2 hits. Dansby Swanson led off and keyed the rally when he drew a
walk. Giancarlo Stanton stepped up next and he doubled. After an out was
recorded, Gavin Lux then drew a walk to load the bases. Keibert Ruiz stepped
in and he doubled giving Stockton the win much to the delight of the home
town crowd. Overall Stockton out-hit San Jose KZ 10 to 6.
The winning pitcher was Sonny Gray(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Zack
Littell(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning
and surrendered 1 hit and 1 walk.
Gray and Willy Adames were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the
great come from behind victory. As Chris O'Connor noted, 'A win like this
one can do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the
fans, the players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen
runs!'
