In a startling finish the Inglewood Ignats staged a comeback then held on to
win over the Stockton Delta Kings by a score of 9 to 6 at Billy Hebert
Field.
Inglewood came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning when they scored 5
runs on 3 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Chas McCormick who
deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he doubled bringing home two
baserunners. Inglewood out-hit Stockton for the game, 10 hits to 6.
The winning pitcher was Edwin Diaz(2-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Jack
Flaherty(0-2) took the loss in relief. He gave up 5 runs in 3 innings of
work.
'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Flaherty said. 'The bottom line is I
didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
