Kyle Hendricks retired 10 batters on strikeouts at Pinko Field as the Selma
Stompers beat the Palo Alto Pinkos 2 to 0.
Hendricks(2-0) came through with a virtuoso performance against the Palo Alto
hitters. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just 4 hits and no walks in 9
innings. Neither team managed to score after the 2nd inning.
Marcus Stroman(1-1) was the loser. He pitched 9 innings allowing only 5 hits
and 2 walks. 'When Hendricks is on like that it is a tough game to play, no
doubt about it,' Richard F. Koch said. 'He always pitches well against us.'

Brock Holt had 4 hits and Drew Smyly racked up an impressive total of 11
strikeouts as the San Jose KZ Kitchen Zinks topped the Fullerton Fatboys by a
score of 3 to 1 at Zink County Stadium.
Smyly(1-0) pitched well for San Jose KZ in their victory. He went 6 and 2/3
innings surrendering 5 hits and 1 walk. San Jose KZ had 9 hits for the
afternoon while Fullerton had 6.
Smyly got relief help from John Axford who gained credit for his 1st save.
Tanner Roark(1-1) was hit with the loss. By surrending 3 runs in 5 innings
his ERA jumped from 1.88 to 2.79.
Smyly was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good zip on my
pitches. Just as important, my location was right on. The fans really got
into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can only do that again
in my next outing.'
