The Selma Stompers nipped the Stockton Delta Kings 5 to 4 at Selma Coliseum in
a hard fought contest.
Stockton fell behind quickly as the Selma offense came through in the first
inning when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided
by David Dahl who excited the crowd when he blasted a two-run home run.
Stockton had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Joey Lucchesi(2-1) allowed 1 run in 7 innings, and picked up the victory.
Lucchesi got relief help from Drew Steckenrider who gained credit for his 3rd
save. The losing pitcher was Reynaldo Lopez(1-2). He served up 3 gopher
balls in 8 innings.

Holder(1-0) contributed a very nice performance in relief. He surrendered

Left fielder Joc Pederson ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Luis Severino
racked up an impressive total of 13 strikeouts at Pinko Field where the San
Jose I Invaders beat the Palo Alto Pinkos by the score of 9 to 3.
Pederson had a big day at the plate. He popped a two-run clout over the fence
in the 1st inning and smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 8th inning.
San Jose I had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6
separate innings.
Severino(3-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 3
runs. Jose Berrios(2-1) was tagged with the loss. He surrended 4 homeruns in
his 7 and 2/3 innings.
Richard F. Koch was impressed with Severino and his 13 strikeouts. 'It's
tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'
