Blake Snell(3-2) was on top of his game in Palo Alto as he tossed a beauty of
a no-hitter against the Selma Stompers. The Palo Alto Pinkos won by a score
of 13 to 0.
Snell was cheered on with every out from the 7th inning onward. The adrenaline
had to be just pumping through his veins. The atmosphere was electric out
there in Pinko Field this afternoon! He walked 2 Selma batters. The tension
built to a fever pitch. After the 8th inning everybody in the ballpark was
anticipating what would happen in the 9th. Palo Alto had a total of 14 hits
for the game.
Brayan Bello(0-1) was the losing pitcher. He was unable to control the Palo
Alto offense and allowed 14 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.
It took a while to pry Snell way from his teammates as they all wanted to show
their appreciation and joy. Finally, however, Richard F. Koch got to offer
his own congratulations with a big bear hug and the comment, 'That was one of
the best pitched games I have seen in all my years in baseball - Snell was
masterful out there this afternoon!'
