at Pinko Field.
Palo Alto tallied 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning when they had 4 base
hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Edwin Encarnacion who made the
crowd happy when he doubled plating three runs. It was roller coaster of a
game as the lead change hands 5 times.
John Smoltz(1-0) went 5 innings allowing 6 runs for the win. Juan Padilla
gained credit for his 4th save. Joe Kennedy(0-3) was charged with the loss.

'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Smoltz said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'
