Hayden Birdsong dominated striking out 12 Selma batters and right fielder
Fernando Tatis Jr smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Selma Coliseum as the
Petaluma River Kings beat the Selma Stompers 7 to 5.

Tatis Jr was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He lashed a single in the 4th inning, cracked a
two-run shot in the 6th inning and hit a bases-empty home run in the 8th
inning. Brusdar Graterol pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his
1st save.

Birdsong(1-0) went 7 innings allowing no runs for the win. Jared Jones(0-1)
suffered the loss. He surrended 3 homeruns in his 5 and 1/3 innings.

Birdsong was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt
pretty confident in my pitches this afternoon. But, I had great support
behind me and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely well
called game!'
