Designated hitter Jorge Soler slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the
Inglewood Ignats really laid it on the San Jose KZ Kitchen Zinks 12 to
2.
Soler had a great day at the plate. He smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the
2nd inning, doubled in the 5th inning and launched a three-run homer in the
8th inning. Inglewood had 16 hits overall, while San Jose KZ had 8.
Robbie Ray(1-0) allowed no runs in 3 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Spencer Arrighetti(0-1) ended up with the loss. He served up 3
gopher balls in 2 and 2/3 innings.
'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Soler said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'

Hayden Birdsong dominated striking out 12 Selma batters and right fielder
Fernando Tatis Jr smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Selma Coliseum as the
Petaluma River Kings beat the Selma Stompers 7 to 5.
Tatis Jr was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He lashed a single in the 4th inning, cracked a
two-run shot in the 6th inning and hit a bases-empty home run in the 8th
inning. Brusdar Graterol pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his
1st save.
Birdsong(1-0) went 7 innings allowing no runs for the win. Jared Jones(0-1)
suffered the loss. He surrended 3 homeruns in his 5 and 1/3 innings.
Birdsong was humble when questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt
pretty confident in my pitches this afternoon. But, I had great support
behind me and I just threw what was called. That was an extremely well
called game!'
